Why should I use a WordPress CMS?

We build most of our sites through WordPress, we could write pages on why we prefer it to other formats but instead, here’s an easily digestible list of out top reasons.

1. 20% of the world’s websites are powered by WordPress, including TechCrunch, The New Yorker and UPS.

2 – It’s easy to edit content. Like, really, really easy. This allows us to step back and give our customers the freedom to post and modify content to their hearts content.

3 – It’s open source. WordPress thrives on it’s massive community who are constantly coming up with new modifications, but also provide you with an unlimited support resource at the click of a button. If you’re having a problem, there’s a good chance someone has had it too and already provided a fix.

4 – It’s constantly updated– WordPress is updated typically more that twice per year, which means you don’t have to worry about your CMS being properly maintained.

5 – Search Engine Optimisation is a breeze – WordPress provide you with some free, fantastic SEO plugins that can get you on the path to Google greatness straight away.

And speaking of plugins…

6 – There are thousands of plugins and extended functionality, both free/open source and premium. There’s a good chance if you need some additional functionality for your website that someone has already developed it and you can get it quickly, easily and cheaply.

7 – It can make having a website designed much cheaper. Some clients and startup businesses are looking for a simplistic, basic website to start off with. WordPress themes can be used and customised to suit the clients needs quickly and therefore can cost much less than a bespoke site.  Because a lot of the work is already done, a developer can move a lot quicker and the lead time is typically shorter.
